Plans
The agent itself is free and uncapped, and it runs in your users' browsers. What the paid tiers add is the right to use it commercially — scoped by what you intend to do with it, not by how many people do it.
Every tier runs the same engine, at the same speed, on the same data. Nothing is throttled, sampled or capped on a paid plan that is not capped on the free one. Your end users each hold their own store in their own browser, and it never reaches us. What the paid tiers add is the right to do it commercially — see below.
The agent, tuned against your own files in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so there is nothing to cap — and the saved configuration is yours to download.
- the full agent, no scale limits
- tune and test on your own files
- download your saved config
- not for commercial use
Use SpeedyDb commercially inside your own company, by as many of your own people as you like.
- everything in Free
- commercial use, internally
- any number of people
- any number of machines
- not for offering to others
Deploy across your whole organization, and build a paid product or service on top of it.
- everything in Basic
- deploy organization-wide
- affiliates, if named
- build a paid service on it
- not for redistribution
Everything runs from your own origin — models, assets and files. We host nothing, so there is nothing for us to count: the licence carries a feature list and an expiry, and the agreement is the protection.
- your origin, your models, your files
- everything in Premium
- nothing downloaded from us at runtime
- no metering of any kind
What you are actually buying
A licence, and nothing else. It is the right to use SpeedyDb commercially — not an allowance, not a quota, not a number of seats. The tiers differ by what you are permitted to do with it, never by how much you do.
That is not generosity, it is honesty about what we can check. SpeedyDb verifies its licence on your machine, offline, with no telemetry and nothing phoning home. We could not count your users if we wanted to — so we do not write a number into the licence and pretend otherwise. You tell us the scope; the agreement is what holds.
Storing your files for you, and syncing your saved agents across devices, will be a separate hosted plan when it exists — priced on storage and what we serve, billed apart from the licence, and cancellable without touching it. A licence never depends on it: cancel hosting and your licence keeps verifying offline for its whole term. It is not available yet, and nothing above depends on it.
Why free is actually free
Not a trial, and not a crippled build. Personal, educational, research and other noncommercial use is free and unrestricted in scale — no row limits, no database-size caps, no query throttles. Local database creation, ingestion, embedding, semantic search, multiple databases, fully offline operation, reindexing, backups and exports are never gated and never require a key. That list is encoded in the source and asserted by tests, not just promised here.
We do not gate ordinary local capability to pressure hobby users into paying. What we charge for is hosting things on our disks and running a console — which is why the free tier has no storage number: there is nothing of yours on our side to measure.
What we never do
- inspect your documents, queries or embeddings
- infer revenue, company size or corporate identity
- phone home, send telemetry, or fingerprint a machine
- delete, encrypt or corrupt data over a licensing problem — recovery operations always work
Commercial use
SpeedyDb is source-available under PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0, not OSI open source. Using it commercially needs a separate agreement, and that is true whether or not any technical check is involved. If you are deploying commercially, redistributing, embedding SpeedyDb in another product, or running it inside a paid hosted service, you need a commercial licence — see the licensing docs.
